Watermelon Cake Smash
This was another session from a returning family! I am so incredibly lucky to have created such wonderful bonds with so many different families, and it is such an honor when they come back to me year after year and trust me to capture their memories and milestones. This time it was for a family portrait session and a Watermelon Cake Smash!
I did newborn portraits last year, and now they are celebrating their youngest's first birthday! Here is a picture of her and big sis from their newborn session last year!
And here's the two of them now!
For this session Mom wanted a combination of some nice family portraits, and then a watermelon themed cake smash for the birthday girl. So we had a quick costume change in between the two!
Family Portrait Session
For the portrait session we stuck with classic navy blues and light pinks, and then we went a bit bolder for the watermelon part. We definitely wanted to do the nice family session part (the least messy!) first.
Watermelon Cake Smash
For the Watermelon cake smash, I found a cute checkered blanket, and a picnic basket, along with some white milk jugs. I added in a few sun flowers just to give it an extra boost of color. Mom actually painted the "ONE" sign herself! (I am so jealous of anyone with that sort of talent). The gorgeous little watermelon cake came from Sweets by E. It was obviously delicious, because both big and little sister demolished the thing!!! I can vouch for the frosting part of the cake as well, as somehow during cake smashes I always get covered in frosting along with baby, and may have licked some of the frosting off my wrist at the end.
Hey! You try positioning and moving a baby around that's covered in frosting and see how clean you end up!
